How PAIRdrop handles your data

Last updated 11 October 2026

PAIRdrop keeps your medical documents and what they say in one place, for you. This page explains, in plain words, what we store, where, who can see it, and how to stop.

What we store

The documents you upload (prescriptions, lab reports, discharge summaries and others) and what PAIRdrop reads from them: medicines, conditions, allergies, test results, visits, and the appointments and tests they ask for.

What you tell PAIRdrop: your answers about your medicines, the doses you mark, dates you confirm, your recovery plan ticks, your readings and your emergency contact.

Your mobile number, which is how you log in, and when you agreed to these terms.

Where it is kept

Your documents and records are stored encrypted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Mumbai, India. The database behind your Health Map also runs on AWS in Mumbai.

Your login (your mobile number) is handled by Auth0, and login codes are sent to you on WhatsApp.

If you allow notifications, Google (Firebase) and Apple deliver them to your phone. They are told only that you have a new message or an update, never who wrote or what.

If a doctor's message waits unread for 12 hours, PAIRdrop's WhatsApp number tells you that you have an unread message, never who wrote or what, at most once a day. You can turn this off in Profile.

If you pay a doctor for a video consultation, you pay in Razorpay's checkout, on the doctor's own Razorpay account. Razorpay collects how you pay (UPI or card) and PAIRdrop never sees it: PAIRdrop tells Razorpay only which consultation it is and the amount.

Each fee you pay has a receipt in the doctor's name, with the name you entered in Profile, the date and length of the consultation, the fee and Razorpay's payment reference. You find it under Receipts on your Documents screen.

If a doctor writes you a prescription in PAIRdrop, they sign it with Aadhaar eSign through Protean eGov Technologies, a government-licensed eSign provider. Protean receives only a fingerprint of the prescription (a code worked out from it), never your name, your details or your medicines.

The AI that reads your documents

Amazon Textract (AWS, in Mumbai) reads the text on each page. Google's Gemini and OpenAI's models read the pages to find what they say, and OpenAI's models answer your questions to the Copilot. Their servers may be outside India.

They are sent only what they need for that one task: a page, or your question with your recent records. What the AI reads can be wrong: always check with your doctor.

Who can see your records

In the app, only you can see them, and the doctors and family you choose to share with.

If you share your records with a doctor or family, you decide who and for how long, and you can stop at any time. A doctor you share with can see your records but not change them, and you will see each time they look.

We never sell your information or share it for advertising. Our team looks at it only to help you when you ask, to check what the AI read from your documents (PAIR medical transcribers), or to delete it.

Changing your mind

If you share with a doctor or family member, you can stop at any time, and it stops at once.

To withdraw your agreement to PAIRdrop storing your information, delete your account. You can also ask us to, using the contacts below.

Deleting your account

Profile → Delete my account deletes every document you uploaded, everything read from them, your Health Map, your answers and your login. It cannot be undone.

Our backups keep your answers, the doses you mark, your readings and your emergency contact for up to 35 days, and the Health Map's database provider keeps its own short-lived backups. Then they are gone too.

Video consultations are never recorded. A doctor you had one with keeps a log of when it was and how long it lasted, with nothing about your health, for a year.

A doctor you paid keeps their record of each payment and its receipt (the name you entered in Profile, the date, length, fee and Razorpay's payment reference) for 3 years, for their accounts. A doctor who wrote you a prescription in PAIRdrop keeps their signed copy for 3 years.
